Key Ingredients of Cicalderm Scar Silicone Gel

Silicone

• Hydrates the skin: By forming a silicone layer, it reduces trans-epidermal water loss, ensuring optimal moisture delivery to scar tissue. Additionally, it minimizes excessive collagen production, preventing new scar formation and improving existing scars.
• Protects against bacterial invasion: The silicone in Cicalderm Gel shields scar tissue from bacterial contamination, curbing collagen overproduction triggered by bacterial presence.
• Regulates collagen synthesis: Activates growth factors and stimulates fibronectin synthesis—a critical protein in scar repair. Normalizes collagen production in abnormal scars, balancing collagen buildup and breakdown. Restores equilibrium between fibrin degradation and production.
• Reduces itching and discomfort.

Vitamin C

• Critical for collagen synthesis and connective tissue repair.
• Enhances scar healing.

Rosehip Oil

• Improves the appearance of surgical and irregular scars.
• Promotes skin regeneration and reduces discoloration (lightens scars).

How Cicalderm Scar Silicone Gel works

Silicone is the primary active ingredient (95%) in Cicalderm Silicone Gel. It's designed to increase hydration in the skin's outermost layer. This, in turn, reduces collagen production in the wounded area, preventing the formation of abnormal scars and improving the appearance of existing scars.

It shields the damaged tissue from bacterial invasion, which helps reduce excessive collagen production caused by bacteria in the wound area.

Regular use of Cicalderm Silicone Gel helps alleviate pain, redness, itching, and general discomfort associated with scars.

By creating a topical dressing, silicone prevents water loss and allows the skin to breathe throughout the day, promoting effective scar treatment.

How to use Cicalderm Scar Silicone Gel

1. Start application after the wound has closed or stitches have been removed.

2. Clean and dry the scar and surrounding area as instructed by your healthcare provider.

3. Apply a thin layer of Cicalderm Gel to the affected area without rubbing or massaging.

4. For optimal results, use twice daily for 60–90 days. Your physician may recommend a longer treatment period.

5. The gel dries invisibly within approximately 4 minutes, forming a protective barrier against harmful UV rays. After drying, sunscreen or makeup can be applied.

6. Pair with sunscreen: Use a high-SPF sunscreen to enhance healing and prevent further damage.

7. Combine with Cicalderm Repair Cream for superficial cuts, laser-induced inflammation, diaper rash, or sunburn.
